Skating is something that has been enjoyed by many people for many years. In fact, there is some proof that the first skate invention took place in 1760 and it used small metal wheels. The invention was created by John Joseph Merlin, but it was not patented as a four-wheel roller sake until 1819. With a history that extensive, it should not surprise you that people still love doing it. However, we often are at a loss about where to go skating.
Skating Rinks
There are many skating rinks scattered around. At these rinks you can go roller skating or inline skating with others in a circular rink. It is ideal for learning how to skate, especially if you do not want to invest in a pair of skates before you learn. Often, skating rinks charge very little per person and some may even offer classes to help you get started.
Public Parks
Many public parks have a paved path somewhere on them. When you inline skate, and are reasonably good at avoiding other people, you may want to consider visiting a park. You can skate on any solid surface and a park allows you to enjoy the great outdoors while you are skating.
Nature Trails
If you can find a nature trail that has a paved walkway or bike path, you can take your skates with you when you go. It is a great way to increase your workout since it will not be just a flat surface and you can be in the great outdoors. In most cases, these trails will make it so you do not have to stop for others, since they will likely be on different trails or riding a bicycle. One thing to keep in mind is that safety comes first. If you are not good at skating, you may not want to venture onto difficult trails.
If there are no public parks or trails, you can always skate on any sidewalk or road as long as you practice safety first skating rules. Share the path with others and take notice of your surroundings.
